Well we figured out Brendan's issue just to come up with another, but the later is a DiscDrive Problem.

Brendan was doing nothing wrong other than putting a 5.26 Gig movie into iDVD. iDVD doesn't like anything bigger than 4.5 gig and that is still pushing it.

We exported the file from FCP to compressor and got it down to 1.2 Gig and into DVD Studio Pro where the disk burner was having issues. I brought the file into my laptop and it burned perfectly.

Very, very good questions.

With so many options in the setup screen one can go berserk trying to figure out the best settings, but not necessarily the right settings.

The settings all depend on your incoming media and your outgoing media formats.

So the answer will be in several parts, trying to concentrate the the most common, but what is normal anyway?

Thanks for the talk. I got a lot of good information. I've exported to DVD, Apple TV, and QuickTime (.mov files) before, but forget to think first of the output rather than the input. For example, if I'm going to export to DVD, my sequence settings would be optimized for that.

Here are some questions for November's meeting:
What are the best sequence settings for 4:3 DVD?
What are the best sequence settings for 16:9 DVD when the source is 1080i HD?
And how and when to output anamorphic?

Thanks, too, for taking the trouble to summarize your notes in this blog.
